Modeling Public Perceptions and Technology Acceptance: The Case of Autonomous and Shared Autonomous Vehicles

This presentation discussed the methods for modeling diffusion and acceptance of emerging technologies (e.g., electric vehicles, electric roadways, and autonomous vehicles), and showed the preliminary results of a behavioral experiment conducted in the Chicago metro area. The objectives of the survey were to assess factors that hinder or encourage the intention to use autonomous and shared autonomous vehicles, and identify distinct market segments.
