Metamodeling of Rotating Electric Machinery
Scott Sudhoff and Raj Sahu, University of Colorado Colorado Springs
Dr. Sudhoff presented on an approach whereby a system designer can rapidly estimate the size and loss characteristics of a class of electric machinery. The proposed method also allows the system designer to explore the trade-off between size and loss, and the impact this has at the system level. This is accomplished through the metamodeling of a normalized optimization based machine design framework. The method is applied to a permanent magnet ac machine.
