Agent Based Modeling for EV Charging Infrastructure Analysis and Optimization

John Salmon, Brigham Young University

Dr. John Salmon (Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University) presented on Agent Based Modeling (ABM) and its application for analyzing and assessing charging infrastructures for a regional system of electric vehicles. Simulating this model under a variety of scenarios provides insights into the requirements of such a system to meet the increasing energy demands and customer needs of higher EV adoption rates in the future. The exploration and potential for optimizing the system using evolutionary algorithms was also be discussed.
