| Abstract: | This method study analyzes case study usage in engineering education from 2020 to 2025, distinguishing single- and multiple-case designs. Single-case studies method is used less frequently in EWD research. Single-case designs capture useful realities of professional learning not easily accessible with comparative methods. The purpose of this theory/methods paper is to make a methodological case for the use of single case-study research in engineering education research, with particular attention to its suitability for studying work-based learning and workforce development interventions. |
