Biography
Janet serves as the Director of Strategic Community College STEM Initiatives for the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado Boulder. In this capacity, she develops systems-level programming to positively affect two- to four-year transfer pathways in engineering for the college. As PI for an NSF INCLUCES Alliance collaborative grant, she works with 30 community colleges nationwide to better prepare developmental math students for transfer into STEM bachelor's degree programs or entry into the STEM workforce. She is also co-PI on a U.S. Department of Defense grant to prepare Denver-metro community college students for university research and industry internships, and subsequent transfer into BS engineering degree programs that are relevant to the defense enterprise. Janet is passionate about broadening participation in STEM, particularly for our nation’s community college students, and is also directly involved in several other initiatives that provide equitable access to underserved students pursuing engineering careers.
