Concrete Masonry & Hardscapes Association Joins ASPIRE’s Industry and Innovation Board

The ASPIRE Research Center is proud to announce the Concrete Masonry & Hardscapes Association (CMHA) as the newest member of its Industry and Innovation Board (IIB). This partnership aligns leading-edge mobility innovation with proven expertise in resilient construction to support the future of electrified infrastructure.
“Joining ASPIRE aligns perfectly with our mission to advance resilient, sustainable infrastructure,” said Robert Bowers, P. Eng. CMHA’s Vice President of Engineering, Hardscapes. “Hardscape solutions are critical components of a lower-carbon, longer-lasting transportation system, and ASPIRE provides a powerful platform to collaborate with like-minded partners who are shaping the future of electrified roadways and sustainable mobility. We’re excited to contribute our expertise and be part of the innovation driving tomorrow’s infrastructure,” he added.
This partnership brings together ASPIRE’s leadership in transportation electrification and CMHA’s expertise in resilient, sustainable construction to advance infrastructure that is not only cleaner and smarter—but also economically sound through greater durability and long-term cost savings.
“This partnership is exciting given the opportunity to pair proven, high-durability road surfacing materials with ASPIRE’s emerging electrification technologies,” said Tyler Munk, ASPIRE’s Engineering Research Coordinator. “It’s a chance to bridge established infrastructure with the next generation of roadway innovation in a way that’s practical, scalable, and ready for real-world deployment.”
About ASPIRE
Advancing Sustainability through Powered Infrastructure for Roadway Electrification (ASPIRE) is a 4th generation National Science Foundation (NSF) Engineering Research Center (ERC) which conducts vital R&D to catalyze practical transitions to widespread electrification in transportation. ASPIRE initiatives enhance quality-of-life for all through improved air quality, economic opportunity, and access to clean, affordable transportation.
Over 400 global ASPIRE staff, faculty, and students work in sync towards the seamless integration of electrified transportation with interconnected intelligent systems infrastructure to provide an inexpensive, seamless charging experience. Multiple disciplines, including engineering, social science, policy, and business, contribute to the effort spanning 10 top-tier universities and 60+ industry, government, and non-profit organizations. They are joined by many community partners and advisors to provide a most comprehensive view of the electric transportation ecosystem and society.
