Passive thermal management of Roadway embedded inductive wireless chargers
Nick Roberts, Utah State University
Dynamic, in-motion charging provides solutions to several challenges facing electric vehicle (EV) adoption, specifically range anxiety and battery pack capacity requirements. A significant challenge that arises when designing electronics for packing in roadway materials is thermal management. Dr. Roberts summarized some of the unique challenges and opportunities for thermal management in roadway packages. He also included a description of recent thermal modeling efforts, property measurements, and experimental validation.
