Abstract:

The \(200~\mathrm{kW}\), three-phase, dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT) architecture originally deployed in the INDOT pilot on US-52/231 in West Lafayette, IN, was replicated at the ASPIRE Electric Vehicle and Roadway (EVR) facility in Logan, UT, using the same inverter, pad, vehicle, and supervisory control architecture. Stationary testing at \(190~\mathrm{kW}\) achieved \(84.5\%\) end-to-end dc efficiency, consistent with the corridor deployment. Dynamic tests at commanded power levels of \(150~\mathrm{kW}\) and \(190~\mathrm{kW}\) delivered average battery powers of \(149~\mathrm{kW}\) and \(183~\mathrm{kW}\), respectively, with higher average-to-peak-power ratios than the corresponding corridor results under reduced pad spacing. An accompanying electromagnetic compliance and field measurement campaign further showed confined magnetic fields, including a \(1.0~\mu\mathrm{T}_{\mathrm{rms}}\) cabin measurement and a \(12.3~\mu\mathrm{T}_{\mathrm{rms}}\) maximum along the vehicle boundary during dynamic operation. Together, these results demonstrate reproducibility of the high-power DWPT architecture across sites, show that transmitter spacing is a key design variable governing dynamic power smoothness, and establish the ASPIRE EVR installation as a controlled platform for standards-oriented evaluation.
