Presentation Title or Topic | Structural Modeling and Assessment of Rigid Pavement with Embedded Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer Components |
Presenters | Oscar |
Abstract: | Integrating Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer (DWPT) components into pavements presents a promising solution to promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) by enabling in-motion wireless charging. This study developed and validated a three-dimensional finite element (FE) model for a rigid pavement with embedded DWPT components using data from a full-scale pavement section. The section, constructed in an accelerated pavement test facility, was instrumented with strain gauges to measure strains under loading. Data from falling weight deflectometer (FWD) tests were used for model validation. The analysis incorporated three bonding conditions to evaluate the effects of structural interface debonding, revealing increased pavement deflections and strains in debonded cases. Under FWD loading, the surface deflections of the DWPT rigid pavement are primarily contributed by the subgrade, with the greatest strain increases at the bottom of the PCC layer occurring in the horizontal direction. |
