Joseph Spence

Biography

Joseph Spence is an investor, advisor, C-level executive and philanthropist catalyzing equitable social systems and advanced technologies, to create smart, sustainable cities that work for everyone. He began his career as an engineer in the prestigious NASA Academy at the Goddard Space Flight Center before expanding into finance and ultimately becoming an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs leading their Technology, Media and Telecom; Real Estate, Gaming and Lodging; and Structured Finance sector credit teams for the Americas and EMEA regions during his tenure. He currently advises AllianceBernstein, a near $1 Trillion US based Asset Manager on the growth of its Private Alternatives Platform. His interests, regardless of sector, business or philanthropic purpose, largely focus on catalyzing moonshot solutions for critical economic, social and technical challenges facing our planet. Beyond his entrepreneurial engagements, he is an alum of Columbia University, is fluent/literate in Japanese, and operates in the private alternatives, sovereign wealth, family office, sports and entertainment space. He is also permanent Board Member for the NASA Academy Alumni Association.
